　　从题干识别上，同学们应该不难发现这是一道典型的提问文章主旨大意的题目。而在主旨大意解题的过程中，我们尤其需要关注首段中出现转折的句子，以12年的这道真题为例，此处首段末句的处理尤其关键。不难发现，这个句子又是典型的长难句。But not even a great health-care system can cure death—and our failure to confront that reality now threatens this greatness of ours.破折号后面的that reality可以用来指代前面的not even a great health-care system can cure death“再杰出的医护体系也无法治愈死亡”这个事实，长难句中指代的处理技巧体现无疑。而此时根据原文间接给出的已知信息，去找能够匹配的选项时，我们会发现选项当中存在大量的考研高频词汇，比如prolong, limit, excessive，如果前期没有扎实的词汇积累，这时候也会出现解题无能的可能性。此处，命题人主要是从英语阅读中的“同义替换”的角度出发，命制了干扰选项，而C选项的death should be accepted as a fact of life“死亡应该作为普遍存在的事实被接受”，与原文的表达异曲同工。

　　另外，有时候阅读对词汇的要求可能还会增加，以2004年的这道题目为例：
